A Message from the Founder of Berkeley Tutors Network, Raymond Barglow, Ph.D.
Berkeley Tutors Network was originally formed to serve students living in the San Francisco/Bay Area. We meet with students one-on-one to help them prepare to take the SAT or ACT.
We’ve always been aware, though, that evolving technologies make new methods for teaching and learning available. And for three years now, we’ve been building and refining our Internet-based SAT and ACT preparation programs. This has been a team effort, involving educational experts, tutors, and the high school students who have used our programs to sharpen their test-taking skills.
Our on-line programs, which enable students to prepare efficiently for the SAT and ACT and improve their performance on these tests, are now available to all high school students, wherever they may live.
When we began this project we believed that our ideas about educational motivation and success, deriving from the pioneering work of John Dewey and refined by recent research into the nature of learning, would help us develop effective on-line SAT and ACT preparation materials. And the results that we’re seeing — high test scores — confirm the value of the work we’ve done!
We invite you to learn more about our approach to test preparation. On this website you will find a variety of materials that explain our aims and methods. Please contact us if you’d like to know more about the programs we offer.
